About NCEDA-USA

NCEDA-USA was born out of a desire by the Nyasoso people residing in the USA to have a platform that brings them together. The idea came out of a meeting of some Nyasoso people at a wedding, and seeing how happy they were to see one another, some only discovering people they had only heard about. At the wedding they pledged to meet as a Nyasoso family in the near future. The first meeting was held on the memorial weekend of 2005 in California, hosted at the residence of sister Carol Ebude Apande. During this maiden meeting an EXCO was elected to formalize the association with bylaws. From that first meeting in 2005, a decision was taken to hold an in person convention each year during the memorial weekend and rotate the venue based on the presence of a Nyasoso community in different states. The other objective, apart from meeting each other and enjoying the feeling of home away from home, was a natural desire to give back to the community in Nyasoso through development projects. It was not lost on us that we in the USA were better off than our kinfolk at home and that through sacrifice we could help improve their living conditions. In this regard we undertook to build a school block when approached by the village community. This was to replace the old main block of the elementary school that had collapsed due to age. In a similar fashion we received appeals from the village about the dwindling supply of water to the community from a small water catchment that had been constructed for a limited capacity during the German colonial period. NCEDA-USA undertook a massive project to revamp the water project, including building of a water treatment tank, a water storage tank, and renovation and extension of the water pipeline to the entire village and new layouts. This multi year project provides water to the village all year.
These two projects highlight the idea of a community engagement and rural development.

NCEDA-USA is a charitable organization dedicated primarily towards alleviating poverty and helping to improve the lives of Nyasoso people in Cameroon through education of the underprivileged, promotion of health care services, assisting in the construction of farm-to-market infrastructures, provision of pipe borne water supply, Feeding the poor, taking care of internally displaced persons as a result of the anglophone crisis, promoting sports, and economic empowerment.
